Who is URBAN TXT?

We inspire boys from disadvantaged communities to become leaders and technology entrepreneurs.

URBAN TXT (Teens Exploring Technology) serves young men of color in 7th through 11th grade from low-income communities in Los Angeles, with team-based learning since 2009.

What we do

• Youth development: Helps students meet the challenges of adolescence and adulthood and build self-advocacy, community responsibility, and emotional control.
• Coding: Teaches students to build the front and back ends of web and mobile applications.
• Business development: Teaches the Business Model Canvas, value propositions, market segments, data analysis, and strategic planning.
• Design thinking: Teaches students to empathize with their communities, define problems, ideate and prototype solutions, and iterate.
